Lowkey is back. Please watch.
This is so so good. Lowkey was one of my favourite rappers for a long time, but 4 years ago he quit music and deleted all his online presence in order to focus on his education.
Now suddenly he is back. His style maturing while staying true to his humanitarian and political views.
Distilling the refugee crisis (which is on a scale people struggle to imagine) into the story of one person. This song made me feel real emotions of compassion, guilt, helplessness, shame and anger …which is something that doesn’t happen with music much any more.
Every single refugee is a person just as real as you, your mother, your father, brothers, sisters, best friends, and children.
RIP Ahmed, and RIP every single person who dies as a result of the actions of others.
